Axiom Verge is cool.
This games lies closest to the 'metroid' side of metroidvania in its graphics, music, and... pretty much everything.
Its got some fun twists and turns story-wise. The gameplay is pretty subversive for the genre as well. I've played probably 7 Metroidvanias, and all of the abilities in this game are unique to Axiom Verge.
I won't lie, I got lost once or twice. If anything, that just makes it truer to the Metroid series, as I remember getting lost in those.
I haven't played the sequel yet, but it looks intriguing. I'll probably eventually make a Miniview for it.
"A picture is worth a thousand words." This one is worth two-thousand.
What can I say that the title hasn't already?
I'd love to hype this up more, but in actuality, I don't think this is a really solid experience. Don't get me wrong, it functions, but its just not that fun once the wonder of--"OMG! Squirrel hold gun!" wears off.
Luckily, this game last as long as that wonder holds. I frankly couldn't bring myself to 100% this after beating it.
For those who love comparisons, this is somehow a mix between Mario Odyssey and Goat Simulator, without the glitches.
